Pluto Direct in Capricorn: The Wrap Up

This is officially the end of an era. Pluto goes direct in Capricorn on October 11, 2024 through November 19, 2024 marking the end of a 16-year Pluto transit. Pluto entered Capricorn on January 27-28, 2008 marking the beginning of transformative (Pluto) changes in Capricorn-ruled areas such as government, business, and power structures both collectively and personally.

We wrapped up the final Pluto retrograde in Capricorn transit from September 1, 2024-October 11, 2024 which provided an opportunity to review this transit and all that has happened and all that was learned from the Pluto in Capricorn experience. What did we learn as Pluto ripped apart outdated structures and what was created from the rubble? Capricorn is all about lessons, so what lessons were learned and were those lessons integrated?

Now, it’s time to wrap up the Pluto in Capricorn era taking away the insights, transformation, and lessons gained. This is important as these Pluto in Capricorn understandings and lessons will be applied as we move through the Pluto in Aquarius era.

A PLUTO IN CAPRICORN RETROSPECTIVE

HISTORICAL/COLLECTIVE CONTEXT

Taking a trip down memory lane is a good way to understand the planetary energies associated with a specific astrology transit. It also provides context to the type of experiences and events that could potentially take place in future similar transits.

The last time Pluto transited Capricorn was from 1762-1778 which marked major structural changes via the Revolutionary War which occurred from 1775-1783. This is the war that the original 13 colonies fought against Britain to obtain independence from colonial rule.

This war was significant as it marked the inception of what is known today as The United States of America. Pluto in Capricorn brought a complete destruction of the previous government structure (British rule) and the establishment of a new country…America.

The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776 officially announcing and explaining the separation of the 13 colonies from Britain.

After the Revolutionary War, the original 13 colonies needed structure (Capricorn), so they created the Articles of Confederation which eventually was replaced by the Constitution of the United States.

You can see how the previous Pluto in Capricorn transit marked a significant change in the breakdown of old and the creation of new power structures worldwide.

So, how has the current 2008-2024 Pluto in Capricorn transit manifested?

The 2008 Pluto in Capricorn transit ushered in the first Black president, Barack Obama for a two-term presidency from 2009-2017. Obama ran his campaign with the slogan, “Change we can believe in,” and the chant, “Yes we can.”

Why is this such a big deal? Well, While America was built on the ideal “that all men are created equal” the truth is that under the original American Constitution, Obama would have been considered 3/5ths of a person due to his race.

Thus, Obama’s presidency was significant in changing the structure of the American politics and government by ushering in the most diverse presidential government staff in the history of the United States. Highlights of the Obama presidency included the subprime mortgage crisis, the Great Recession, the bank bailouts and economic stabilization also known as the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), the deaths of Osama Bin Laden and Muammar Gaddafi, the implementation of The Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare, and the legalization of gay marriage nationwide.

2017-2021 marked Donald Trump, a person of significant celebrity status, taking the seat as the president of the United States. It should be noted that Donald Trump is not the first person in entertainment to become president. That first goes to Ronald Reagan.

It should be noted that Trump is the only president that did not have prior political and/or military experience. Trump is also the businessman (Capricorn) turned politician. Trump ran his campaign with the iconic “Make America Great Again” slogan and the nationalist perspective of “America First.”

Many of the structures created during the Obama presidency were significantly changed or eliminated under Trump’s presidency. These changes included rolling back environmental policies, and the elimination of the Affordable Care Act health insurance mandate penalty. Speaking of Capricorn and structures, Trump is infamous for “building walls” physically and metaphorically. He championed building a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border and issued a travel ban on individuals from Muslim countries. Likewise, international relations were strained under the Trump presidency with the United States being removed from several trade/relational agreements. Trump did show consistent support for the military, veterans, maintaining American jobs, building infrastructure, and energy independence.

From 2021 to the present, Joe Biden’s campaign was structured around re-structuring America especially after the Covid-19 shutdowns hence the campaign slogan “Build Back Better.” This presidency also marks the first female vice president who also happens to be a minority.

In review, many of the policies implemented under Biden are/were a combination of the two previous presidencies. Biden reimplemented and reinstated several policies that were initiated under Obama and continued some of Trump’s policies.

Ironically, due to Covid-19 pandemic, some of the Trump policies that were directed towards putting “America First” became important in helping the country sustain and recover. Biden implemented several policies that focused on restructuring America from within which include improving infrastructure, the American Rescue Plan (Covid-19 relief), and the American Jobs Plan.

Similarly, Biden reinstated several of Obama’s policies to include reimplementing international alliances, deals, and connections such as rejoining the World Health Organization and reinstating environmental parameters and protections.

The complexity of the immigration issue at the U.S.-Mexico border has been interestingly highlighted during Biden’s presidency…especially recently. Although Trump received a lot of pushback for wanting to build structures to limit immigration, the influx of migrants into the United States has caused a profound economic impact on the country to the point where even Biden is referenced as telling migrants to not come to the U.S., and he even continued Trump’s Title 42 policy for quick deportations. This resonates with Pluto in Capricorn’s need for structure, terms and conditions, and the establishment of BOUNDARIES.

Perhaps America is learning the Capricorn/Saturn lessons that boundaries are necessary to maintain and sustain existing and future structures.

Finally, as we wrap up Pluto in Capricorn transit, Biden is the oldest sitting president in U.S. history at the age of 81 (Capricorn rules elders). A lot of talk about Biden’s ability to be an effective president due to his age has been prevalent.

The tail end of the Pluto in Capricorn transit ushers in a presidential election in the United States on November 5, 2024⁩ that could be quite historic in changing the face of the U.S presidency. The two leading candidates are former president Donald Trump and the current Vice President Kamala Harris.

If elected, she would be the first female vice president and president in U.S. history. True to Pluto in Capricorn energy, this would result in a major structural change.

Is America ready for a female president? Is every man AND woman created equal and capable of being the leader of the free world?

If Trump wins a second term, is America ready for round two of “Make America Great Again?”

Given that this will be the first U. S. presidency of the Pluto in Aquarius era, what is incoming will be quite significant in creating transformative breakthroughs that impact society and humanity at large.

STRUCUTRAL SHIFTS

BREAKDOWNS & REBUILDS

Pluto obliterates what is not authentic and no longer applicable in exchange for transformation, evolution, and healing. When Pluto aligns with Capricorn, the structures that you are familiar with both personally and collectively are in store for a major overhaul. The Capricorn structures long planned and built are leveled Pluto style so that they can be recreated with maturity, wisdom, and lessons from the past.

On a personal level, think of yourself as a business that you are managing. How has the business of your life changed significantly with Pluto in Capricorn transit?

Did you have a structured plan for building your life? After Pluto tears down what is no longer applicable, Capricorn/Saturn desires a practical, tangible plan that requires action and effort to implement.

While creating that tangible plan for restructuring, did you apply the experiences and lessons of the past? Capricorn at its best learns its lessons so that it doesn’t repeat the same pitfalls that prevent success.

Have the changes experienced via this long-term Pluto in Capricorn transit lead to significant transformation or are you holding on to what needs to be released making your experience even more difficult?

Have you put in “hard work” and effort to make the changes necessary to change the business that is your life? Have you taken accountability and responsibility for the area where Pluto is transiting your chart in Capricorn?

These are some considerations for the structural shifts that occurred during the Pluto in Capricorn transit.

During Pluto Rx in Capricorn, there is the chance to reconsider the plans for building and structuring your life. Given this is the last time that Pluto will go retrograde in Capricorn, this review was significant in determining what you have been doing with your time. Capricorn values time used wisely.

Sometimes you make plans with the best of intentions, but there are times when reassessments are needed to show you if you are on the right track.

A clear reality check about what you have or have not accomplished over this 16-year Pluto cycle is due.

For some, you’ll look back and be quite proud of your hard-earned achievements. You have faced both Pluto’s breakdowns and Capricorn’s/Saturn’s tests.

For others, you’ll look back and have regrets and reservations about breakdowns, plans, your path to success, your endeavors, and the “business” that is your life.

In either case, this retrograde transit provides the opportunity to reconsider how you have navigated the Pluto in Capricorn, and make necessary adjustments to apply this energy. Yes, this retrograde is at the very end of the transit, and so this is truly a reflective time of wrapping up the 2008-2024 transit.
